Ditch the Noise: 2026 Family Land Dream for Real Childhood

Happy New Year!

Hope you’re not too hungover today.

I kept it simple last night — a couple of Pepsis, some Dr. Peppers, and I crushed it at Uno.

Victory tastes sweet.

But the real magic happened today.

During yesterday’s YouTube live stream, someone asked about my 2026 goals.
Honestly?
I hadn’t thought about it.
I winged the answer.
Then this morning, as I wandered the back five acres of the RV park with my kids, it hit me.

One Goal to rule them all!

This year, I want my own land. I want to move my family onto it — our real home.
I know, it sounds like every internet dream.
I’ve been there too — chasing the idea without knowing why.
Just to escape the noise.
A quiet oasis.
But today changed everything.

Erika just got a new book so the family can learn in nature

We brought along a plant identification book on our walk.
For the first time in three months of living here, we actually paid attention to the world around us.
We named the trees, the weeds, the wildflowers.
My kids’ eyes lit up.
That’s the real reason I want land: so we can explore it together.
So my children can have a true childhood — not endless scrolling, but dirt under their nails and wonder in their hearts.

The kids love watching movies and eating popcorn. Which is fine after a full day of work

A Digital Shift.

Back in the day, it felt normal to let the kids zone out on devices just so we parents could catch a breather.
But we’ve all seen how that backfired.
Too much screen time leaves them wired, cranky, and disconnected from the real world — you can spot it instantly when they’ve had a full day glued to a screen.
Their energy flattens, curiosity fades, and that spark of wonder dims.
So my big goal for 2026 is simple but intentional: cap device time at 2 hours a day max — and ideally only after they’ve earned it with a solid day of real, hands-on play outside.
Dirt under nails, fresh air in lungs, exploring the world with their whole bodies instead of just their thumbs.
Here are a few glimpses of what that looks like in action on our current walks:

Here are some happy kids lost in real adventure — the kind of play that builds curiosity, resilience, and joy without a single notification.
These moments — climbing, discovering, laughing together — are what I want more of.
Not endless scrolling.
And that’s exactly why land is the key.

What we do not need.

I don’t need a massive house.
I’d rather have a cozy shelter for rough weather… and spend the rest of our days outside, breathing in the natural smells, feeling the seasons change.
Everything I do this year will build toward that goal.
Erixland.
This is the year I claim my physical land while I keep building my digital world.
So raise your Pedialyte (or coffee — no judgment), and let’s cheers to making 2026 remarkable.
I’ll keep sharing the journey — as a father, a husband, and a world-builder on Apple Vision Pro.
